Former AMARAN Bassist Explains Decision To Leave The Band
May 27, 2003Former AMARAN bassist Mikael Andersson has released a statement via the band's official web site explaining his decision to leave the group.
Mickael's statement reads as follows:
"Two questions I've been asked a lot lately are:
"Why?
"What's next?
" 'Why?' is probably the most difficult question, since I'm not really sure I know the entire answer myself. I guess there are several reasons for my departure, but it all comes down to one thing. Lack of motivation. Not towards the band in particular, but towards the world in general. There have been many ups and downs in my life since I first joined the band, and some have had greater impact than others. I've had a fair share of personal problems that took my focus away from the band, and I never found that focus again. Since I couldn't promise the band that I would always be able to give 100% I found it best to step down instead of running the risk of standing in the way.
"As for the future, I don't know yet what will happen. Right now I intend to take a break from musical activities for a few months and then re-evaluate how I feel about playing. If I find any motivation again I might have a look at the songs I once wrote for my (now dormant) solo project. If that feels good I might try to build a band from it, or look for something existing.
"I hope this answers the two questions.
"My best wishes for the band, and I look forward to hearing what they create in the future."
AMARAN, who feature in their ranks former members of MOURNING SIGN, are currently seeking a replacement for Andersson. Interested partied can contact the group at [email protected].
As previously reported, AMARAN recently completed work on their second album, "Pristine In Bondage", due late summer through Listenable Records.
"Pristine In Bondage" was recorded at Studio Underground in Västerås, Sweden and contains 13 new songs that the band are describing as "much heavier" than the material on the group's debut, "A World Depraved".
